Frequently Asked Questions
How close is True North to the shops and restaurants of Downtown Nisswa?
True North is located about 1 mile away from Main Street in Downtown Nisswa.
What lakes can be accessed from True North?
The Lodge House sits on Roy Lake, part of the 13,000-acre Gull Lake Chain. For guests renting the Lodge House (or the full True North estate), there are 8 wonderful lakes on the Gull Lake Chain that are connected by channels that you can explore and fish by boat: Gull Lake, Roy Lake, Upper Gull Lake, Nisswa Lake, Margaret Lake, Spider Lake, Bass (Ray) Lake, and Love Lake.
Can I bring a boat to True North?
Yes! For those guests renting the Lodge House (or the full True North estate), there is a dock with two slips available to use for boats or personal watercraft. Guests must bring their own ties and dock bumpers to protect their watercraft and the dock. While True North does not rent its own watercraft, there are great outfitters in the area who do (and some deliver their boats directly to our dock).
How many people can True North sleep?
It depends on the number of couples and kids, and which people in the group can share a bed or bedroom. With 9 sleeping areas (including the Bunkhouse), 14 beds, and 3 futons, the maximum number of people the property can sleep is 30.
Can I bring a guest to True North who isn’t on the reservation?
No. Only guests counted on the reservation are allowed at True North. Groups who want to invite external guests to the property for a special event (e.g. reception, brunch, etc.) must get prior written approval from True North by emailing us through our “Special Events” page.
How many bathrooms are at True North?
There are a total of 9 bathrooms across the True North property. The Lodge House has 5 bathrooms, the Clubhouse has 3 bathrooms (including one in the Yoga/Stretching Room that’s shared with guests from the Little Cabin), and the Little Cabin has 1 bathroom. The Bunkhouse does not have a bathroom.
Can I book the Little Cabin and Clubhouse together?
Yes! When guests book these two cabins together, they get the whole 4 ½ acre East Side of the property to themselves. This typically can accommodate up to 6-10 people and includes the private tennis court, outdoor hot tub and sauna, ¼ mile wooded walking trail, and Bunkhouse for extra sleeping space (May – October).
How do I book the Bunkhouse? And what does it cost?
The Bunkhouse is available only as extra sleeping space for guests who book the Clubhouse or the Little Cabin for an extra fee of $50 per night from May to October. For guests who book the entire True North estate, the Bunkhouse is included at no extra cost.
If I book just the Little Cabin or the Clubhouse, are there shared amenities with other guests?
Yes! The Little Cabin and Clubhouse sit just 100 feet from each other on 4 ½ acres on the East side of the property. Together, guests at each building share all the outdoor amenities on the property, including the private tennis court, outdoor hot tub and sauna, and ¼ mile wooded walking trail. They also have joint access to the yoga/stretching room located in shared space at the Clubhouse.
Are linens and towels provided? What about toiletries?
We provide linens and bath towels to guests, as well as starter paper towels and toilet paper. Guests should plan to bring their own toiletries.
What supplies are provided in the kitchens?
Each kitchen has the basic supplies for everyday eating and cooking, including plates, glasses, silverware, pots, pans, cooking utensils, etc. Guests interested in cooking or baking more specific foods (e.g., cakes, pizzas, etc.) should plan to bring those supplies.
What is the cleaning policy and cleaning fees for staying at True North?
True North expects all guests to treat the property with care and respect, and to leave it as they found it. For professional cleaning between reservations, True North has partnered with a wonderful, woman-owned cleaning company since 2017. Each building has a flat fee, regardless of length of stay, and all fees go directly to the cleaning company. The fee schedule is: Little Cabin ($125/stay), Clubhouse ($145/stay), and Lodge House ($525/stay).
What is the pet policy and pet fee at True North?
We love dogs! But they are only allowed at the Clubhouse and Little Cabin; they are not allowed in the Lodge House. There are a few simple rules for pets staying at the Clubhouse or Little Cabin: They are not allowed on the furniture or beds; not allowed anywhere in or around the hot tub, sauna, or yoga/stretching room at the Clubhouse; they must be leashed while outside; and guests must pick up after them in the yard. There is a one-time $95 pet fee.
